June is here, we’re about to hit summer, and it’s also Great Outdoors Month.
If you’re reading this blog, you don’t need us to tell you that the western United States, especially Colorado, is a gorgeous place to be outside any time of year. It just gets even better now that we can access certain places off limits during the winter.
Here’s a fun look at Great Outdoors Month, and how now is the best time to check out booking a motorcycle tour or even renting a dirt bike for the day to get outside and explore!
June - Great Outdoors Month
Great Outdoors Month was originally just a week long back in 1998. Since then, it’s become a June-long initiative to get people outside more to enjoy America’s many pristine national parks. There's even a business incentive since outdoor recreation contributes over $400 billion to the economy and comprises more than 2% of GDP.
Even as far back as the 1960s, there’s been a significant growth in nature trails, in both rural and metropolitan areas. We, of course, prefer the outdoor riding paths you’ll find in the remote places surrounding Buena Vista.
Six Outstanding Motorcycle Tours with Accelerate Adventures
You can explore almost every corner of the beautiful Colorado Rocky Mountains when you join one of our single/multiple day riding tours. This is a quick preview of what you can expect when you ride with our friends at Accelerate Adventures:
- Single-Day Tours - A one-day tour is a great way to whet your appetite for motorcycle riding. These are $200 per person, but it’s cheaper (and way more fun) with a group of riders. We always hit some fantastic sights around Aspen, Triad Ridge, and Dudbobs in a quick tour you won’t forget.
- Two-Day Tour - This is where we dig our way through mining museums and historic locations. You’re sure to enjoy this fascinating “ghost tour” of Colorado’s gold mining history.
- Three-Day Tour (June through October) - Here, you get the chance to see the gorgeous Crystal Mill, and try your hand at some enduro racing. The three-day option lets you spend time thrill riding, sight-seeing, and exploring.
- Four-Day Tour (Coming soon in July) - We call this the “Best of BDR Tour,” featuring the southern part of the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route. Highlights include the pristine Lake San Cristobal, the ruins at Animas Forks, and plenty of wildlife all over the place.
- Five-Day Tour (June through October) - This is another tour opportunity to view Aspen, Crystal Mill, Crested Butte, and several other fine spots. Everyone enjoys the view of waterfalls, and access to 24-hour geothermal hot springs.
- Seven-Day Tour (This June 24th!) - Do you have an entire week to cover some serious ground? If so, then it’s time for the most comprehensive trail system in North America. We’ll take you as high as 12,000 feet to explore scenic vistas and some of the more challenging off-roading opportunities.
