Have you ever wanted to learn how to ride a dirt bike? Whether you’re an adult or child, man or woman, we have some fun and outstanding dirt bike training classes to help you launch this fantastic hobby. First, let’s go over a few fundamental riding aspects.
Basics of Learning How to Ride a Dirt Bike
These are a sample of the topics we’ll cover more in-depth when you meet with us for a training clinic.
Safety Protection & Biking Attire
This is not the sort of sport you do in shorts, t-shirts, and sandals. Proper riding gear and attire is mandatory. We can help you select a proper-fitting helmet, boots, goggles, gloves, and other protective equipment. Be sure to arrive with long pants, a shirt with sleeves, and close-toe footwear.
Kick Starts & Electronic Starts
The bike you select will dictate how it starts. There are kick starts and electronic starts, where you either kick a pedal to get the pistons firing or simply press a button to start it electronically.
Body Positioning
Dirt bike riding may seem like riding a mountain bike, but you have to be more diligent about body positioning. You cannot “relax and chill” when you’re doing this. Your body will only touch the very front of the seat since you’ll be leaning forward. Hands must remain firm on the handlebars while keeping your elbows and knees bent slightly. This involves a significant amount of exertion, so managing your stamina is a huge part of becoming a competent rider.
Control Basics
Your right hand controls the throttle and front brake, whereas your left hand controls the clutch handle. You’ll find the clutch pedal also on the left side. The right pedal is for the rear brake. We’ll show you how to operate these since it takes a while to become familiar. This involves how to position your feet for optimal riding, and how to control the throttle.
Once you’ve mastered these rudimentary biking components, it’s a matter of practice and getting familiar with riding techniques. We can’t wait to show you how that’s done when you train with us in person.
